The God who upholds the world is especially present to give strength to those who believe.
Jesus is acting in the place of his people. He’s obeying on our behalf. He’s standing firm in the same kinds of circumstances where the people of God have historically failed.
Humility is necessary for good character. And good character is necessary for functioning as a healthy Christian. And healthy Christians are necessary for the peace and purity of the Church, and for the world to see a reflection of Jesus’s greatness and glory.
The only people who will sincerely engage in praying against temptation and evil are those who desire the kingdom of God, and depend on the power of God, and who delight in the glory of God.
