Our Elders
The elders of University Reformed Church (URC) in East Lansing, MI currently provide oversight for our congregation. We are committed to being led by a plurality of elders who will promote spiritual accountability, pastoral sensitivity, and personal integrity in the life of the church and denomination. When our church formalizes, the local congregation in Mount Pleasant will nominate and elect their own qualified elders.
Our Deacons
Deacons are important church officers who oversee the church’s spiritual and material support to those in need. These officers work with capable individuals in the congregation to mobilize resources for long-term good. At this time, our church is without a formal diaconate to handle requests for benevolence. As the church becomes established, the local congregation in Mount Pleasant will nominate and elect their own qualified deacons.
Selecting Leadership at Fellowship Reformed Church (PCA)
We affirm that individuals seeking to serve the church in an official capacity should be godly individuals of Christlike character. Pastors, elders, and deacons must be qualified according to the descriptions given in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. To safeguard the peace and purity of the church, candidates for leadership are examined and installed according to the guidance given in the PCA’s Book of Church Order.
