The Spiritual Fruit of Faithfulness
The Fruit of Faithfulness
At our Sunday evening church service in Mt Pleasant, MI, we welcomed Benjamin Ault as a guest preacher. Ault is a Pastoral Intern at University Reformed Church in East Lansing. Ault opened the Bible with the church and directed our attention to two passages of Scripture. After briefly referencing Galatians 5, Ault then proceeded to read (and preach from) 2 Timothy 2:11-13, regarding the faithfulness of God.
Ault took time to describe what God’s faithfulness is like. And the faithfulness of God helps us to further appreciate the weight, not only of his kindness and mercy, but also the weight of his justice and judgment. This stands in clear contrast to the unfaithfulness of human beings. We need this fruit of the Spirit to be produced in us, because of the way our heart is corrupted by sin.
