Paul won’t spend much time in this letter explaining how God saved us. He gives more attention to that in his other letters. But the understanding that underlies this whole letter is that we have a God who saves – a God who speaks for our good. And that explains why we listen to his voice, with trust and with joy...
Is anything too hard for the LORD?
This section of history vividly demonstrates how God saves his people: He graciously calls his people out of sin, into his blessing, into faith, and into worship.
The right attitude of the Christian should never be “God shows me grace, so I can keep sinning!” Instead, the right attitude that we see here is “God shows me grace, so I can keep obeying!”
Our citizenship is something to be understood, and enjoyed, and acted upon.
