God is intent on exposing our sin, not in order to hurt us, but to heal us.
Though the Bible does sometimes speak about God’s hidden plans and mysterious purposes, He gives us no instructions for trying to uncover those hidden plans. There are no lessons on deciphering omens. He gives us no encouragements to go looking for new messages from the Holy Spirit.
But what is “the fear of the Lord?” What does it mean to fear God?
And forever set before me the unfading glory of Jesus Christ, who I readily confess is, indeed, both the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
Are you still satisfied with being right in your own eyes? Or have you instead set your sight on the truly pure righteousness of Jesus Christ?
Make sure that your kids know that your greatest concern for them, in their education, is that they would rightly relate to the God who made them, who sent His Son to die for their sin, and who calls them to repentance and faith.
Joy in God is what empowers the Christian’s pursuit of progress. And progress in knowing Christ and becoming more like him is what enflames the Christian’s experience of joy. We need both.
The cost is worth the crown. The risk is worth the reward. Jesus says, “Follow me.” What’s stopping you?
We can never be reminded enough that being in Christ, and living in his fullness is alone the great boast and assurance for His people.
As we pray for more workers to minister to the lost, we should recognize that God may be answering our prayers, not by sending other people, but by equipping us for service to the people around us.
