We have the freedom to recognize that faith isn’t just a feeling, but faith is something more like a conviction that continues to lean on Jesus, and seek his grace, even in the absence of party balloons and fireworks.
Find a church in which the members are clear in their commitment to Christ. Find a church in which the members are diligent in their commitment to one another. And find a church where its leaders are serious in their care for you, as a member of Christ’s body.
Make sure that your kids know that your greatest concern for them, in their education, is that they would rightly relate to the God who made them, who sent His Son to die for their sin, and who calls them to repentance and faith.
Joy in God is what empowers the Christian’s pursuit of progress. And progress in knowing Christ and becoming more like him is what enflames the Christian’s experience of joy. We need both.
The cost is worth the crown. The risk is worth the reward. Jesus says, “Follow me.” What’s stopping you?
Are we really comfortable to have universities deciding and dictating what it means to be a truly well-educated and well-adjusted human being?
We may not always know God’s motive in every trial that we face. But we can humbly affirm the little we do know: God is God, and we are not.
Expository preaching may not always be flashy or entertaining, but when done rightly it will teach the mind, move the heart, and motivate the soul in a way nothing else can.
Our great calling is to know God and his profound love and loyalty, and to respond with love that honors Him.
